Council could become first to permanently adopt four-day working week

According to the independent study, a council that tried a four -day working week reported improvements in more than one service.
Since the beginning of 2023, the South Cambridgeshire Regional Council has been called a four -day working week, where personnel completed all their work for full wages to rent and keep more personnel.
According to the report compiled by university researchers, twenty -one of the 24 Council services has recovered or remained the same since the hearing started.
The Council said that improved services changed from repair to the required period and updated tax support requests.
Bridget Smith, a member of the Assembly, said, the leader of the Southern Cambridgeshire Regional Council, “There is now more consistency through lower personnel turnover and improved health and well -being.”
The Council, led by the liberal Democratic, said that the case saved approximately £ 400,000 a year by cutting the agency personnel.
“This saves hundreds of thousands of pounds for the Council taxpayers, not only because we fill the duties with our own staff, but not by reducing our recruitment costs,” he said.
“Now all the regional council members weigh all the evidence and decide how to move forward.”
The findings come after two government notifications on the concerns of the Council’s hearing in a four -day week.
The last notification ended in November and was not renewed by the workers’ government. However, members of the conservative opposition council expressed their concerns that the residents were not satisfied.

“Conservatives will do our best to stop this madness.”
The Council’s Review and Overview Committee will review the report on July 14 with the final decision to be made by the full Council three days later.
