Crews respond to fire in Santee, nearby stores evacuated

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — Crews are actively responding to a fire in Santee early Sunday evening.

The San Diego Sheriff’s Office confirmed that deputies were assisting firefighters at the scene.

The fire appears to have started in the riverbed behind the Walmart on Town Center Parkway, officials said. They said both Walmart and Michaels were evacuated.

There is currently no threat to residents north of where the fire started, deputies said.
