Trump asks Iran to be ‘reasonable’ in next round of talks over nuclear deal | World News

United States President Donald Trump on Monday (local time) asked Iran to be “reasonable” in the next round of negotiations on the nuclear deal and reminded Tehran of its B-2 bomber strike in June 2025.

Speaking to reporters, Donald Trump said he would be “indirectly” involved in negotiations with Iran.

“I will also be indirectly involved in these talks. This is very important. Iran is a tough negotiator, but I would say they are bad negotiators, because we could have made a deal instead of sending B-2s (B-2 Bombers) to destroy their nuclear potential. I hope they will be more reasonable. They want to make a deal… There is peace in the Middle East. You will see flames here and there, but actually there is peace in the Middle East. This happened because we carried out a B-2 strike on the nuclear potential. They would have nuclear weapons within a month.”

According to CNN, the United States and Iran are expected to hold the next round of negotiations on the nuclear deal in Geneva, Switzerland, on Tuesday (local time).

According to CNN, US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are also expected to attend the meetings.

Iran and the United States held previous rounds of nuclear talks in Muscat, Oman, and Rome, Italy, in April 2025.

However, on June 21-22, 2025, the USA launched attacks on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure as part of ‘Operation Midnight Hammer’ and targeted three important sites in Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan. Iran strongly condemned the operations, saying they were a clear violation of international law and the UN Charter.

When asked how the Gaza Peace Board would be established, Donald Trump said relevant world leaders would work with the United Nations.

“It (the Board) has all the world leaders and is putting in tremendous amounts of money. And I think it will go far beyond Gaza and there will be peace all over the world. We’re working with the United Nations. The UN has great potential, but they haven’t delivered on it yet. But they can help us a little bit,” Trump told reporters.

An important meeting of the Peace Board is scheduled for February 19. Before the meeting, Donald Trump announced that relevant member states had donated over 5 billion US dollars for humanitarian aid and reconstruction efforts in Gaza.
