Andrew Cuomo does not leave the New York Mayor race.
Cuomo, the former three -term New York State Governor Cuomo, who resigned in the middle of more than one scandal in 2021, was confirmed to progress as an independent candidate in the general elections and to FOX News on Thursday night.
Cuomo’s announcement came two days after Zohran Mamdani’s shocking the political world, the progressive upward gone, and at the top of the Mayor of the Democratic Party of the Heavy Blue New York City, the rest of the 11-Sandidat field and took a great step towards becoming the first Muslim mayor of the country’s most courtesy city.
Mamdani, a 33 -year -old Democratic Socialist State Assembly member of Queens from Uganda, caught 43.5% of the first round of unofficial primary results and Cuomo received 36.4%.

While accepting Mamdani’s primary victory, Cuomo left the door open in November as an independent candidate with election rules in the permission of the New York province.
Cuomo, in a statement earlier this week, “I want to look at all the numbers and analyze the rank selection vote. Then, in November, I will be entitled to run to a mayor of an independent line, I will consult my colleagues about the best way to help the city of New York.” He said.
Cuomo faced a deadline for the end of the day for candidates who were entitled to work independently to reject this independent ballot.
The former governor will maintain its place in the “fighting and surrender” ballot in the ballot of the “fighting and delivery”. However, sources said Cuomo has not yet committed to carry out an active general election campaign during the summer and autumn.
If Cuomo leaves the race at a later date, his name will remain in the general election vote.

After a long shot in the race, Mamdani closed the gap with Cuomo during the last tension of the primary race thanks to an energetic campaign that partly focused on New York’s high life costs.
Mr. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the progressive rock star and the leading leader of New York on the left and the progressive champion and the second democratic presidential candidate Vermont from Vermont by Sen Bernie Sanders, Mamdani’s new York Democratic Party Base helped to consolidate the most.
What does Mamdani’s striking primary victory mean to democrats around the country?
And Mamdani rode a wave of support for the first place for the younger and first voters.
“I will be the mayor for every New Yorker,” Mamdani said in his speech. “Even if you have voted for me or Governor Cuomo, feel that a long -term political system is very disappointed for voting, I will fight for a safe city for you, which is suitable for you.”
Since none of the candidates are on the top of 50%, counting as a technique is now entering sequential selection elimination tours. However, the total totals of the votes of Mamdani and other aligned progressive candidates will be more than enough to overthrow Cuomo as the sequential election tables begin on July 1.
Seeing the writing on the wall, Cuomo accepted the defeat and complimented Mamdani when the first primary results were poured on Tuesday and said to the supporters, “Tonight his night. He deserved. He won.”
However, Cuomo, in an interview with CBS New York on Wednesday, “More people go out to vote in the general elections. If you want, New York people, New York people more representative pool.”
“There are about 5 million voters in New York, there are about 8 million people in New York, and about 1 million people vote in the democratic first. So it’s not necessarily the representative of the city.” He said.

And a survey of an external group from a consultancy and lobby group supporting Cuomo was based on a possible general election pairing of Mamdani and Cuomo on Thursday, and the Mayor Eric Adams-Bağız-and Cumhuriyet Mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa was proposed with a democrat.
Sliwa, the founder of voluntary crime patrols, known as Guardian Angels, is a GOP candidate for a second flat election cycle. In addition, former Federal Prosecutor Jim Walden, who was independent of this November.
When I was asked that Cuomo will not leave the race, Mamdani said in an interview with Fox News Affiliate Wnyw in New York on Thursday, “I think there is a place for everyone because we will win.”
67 -year -old Cuomo spent the last four years fighting to clean his name after 11 sexual harassment charges, which he rejected over and over again. In addition, Covid-19 was under investigation to address the Covid-19 pandem because of the allegations that his administration had largely killed in the state nursing homes.
Last month, the Ministry of Justice, the Republicans accused him of lying to Congress against the decisions he made as governor during the Coronavirus pandemi, launched a criminal investigation against Cuomo.
Thanks to the name recognition, Cuomo was the front runner of the polls even before explaining his candidacy earlier this year. However, he carried out a safe campaign based on union support and often refrained from dealing with local or national media.
In the meantime, Mamdani used social media platforms, including Tiktok, while dealing with primary voters. He suggested to ride on New York’s wide bus system, and to establish Cuny (New York City University), freezing in municipal residences, and establishing markets that offer “free children care” for children up to five years of age and operated by the state.

Adams’ survey numbers were sinking even before being accused of five points last year, which accused the mayor of the charges of bribery and fraud as a part of a “long -standing” plan to make a personal profit from contact with foreign authorities.
Mayor made inspections over and over again Donald Trump, And earlier this year, the Ministry of Justice rejected charges of corruption, so that Adams can potentially work on illegal immigration pressure with the Trump administration.
In early April, he announced that he would run independently to be re -elected and give up the democratic first.
