HAL receives fourth GE-F404-IN20 engine for LCA Mark-1 form US’ GE Aerospace

The engine will be used for the LCA Mark 1A fighter aircraft, which will enter the Indian Air Force in the near future.
Hal bought the third GE-404 engine for the LCA Mark-1A Fighter Aircraft program on September 11th. The public sector company is expected to buy 12 GE-404 engines at the end of this fiscal year.
Indian Air Force 83 LCA Mark 1A gave orders for a fighter aircraft, and 97 more of these planes are prior to the prior stage.
In 2021, India signed an agreement with General Electric to supply 99 F404-IN20 engines. Delivery has been affected due to supply chain cuts, including the failure of a South Korean component supplier. As a result, the program was pushed back to March 2025.
The Indian Air Force plans to start a total of 352 Tejas aircraft by combining both MK1A and MK2 variants. Hal is on the way to meet this year’s delivery targets. The defense company expects motor materials to be stabilized in the next financial year. It is foreseen that full-scale production will touch 30 planes per year until 2026-27 with the support of both public and private industry partners.
