Dana Bash praises Colbert’s rebuke of Trump admin’s response to ICE shooting

CNN host Dana Bash marveled at liberal late-night host Stephen Colbert’s violent response to the Trump administration’s take on Wednesday’s deadly shooting in Minneapolis involving a federal agent.

On Thursday, the “Late Show” host condemned federal officials, including Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, for “trying to spin” the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Renee Good. He also harshly criticized reports that the FBI blocked Minnesota investigators from accessing evidence.

“So the message from this administration is clear: They alone determine truth, and when their power comes to your city, obey or die. And if you die, you have clearly disobeyed,” Colbert told his liberal audience.

The next day, after watching clips of Noem and Vice President J.D. Vance reacting to the attack, the “Inside Politics” host turned to the far-left comedian.

“Normally on ‘Domestic Politics’ we would say what the Democrats said in response in a situation like this. There was another person who really caught our attention, and that was Stephen Colbert,” Bash told the audience.

“You know, late-night hosts may be getting a lot of criticism from the White House now, but historically they’ve been the people who really intensify and capture the emotion of any given moment in society,” the CNN host said before airing Colbert’s comments.

One of the panelists, CNN political analyst Astead Herndon, said Colbert “epitomizes public sentiment.”

“When we hear DHS Secretary Kristi Noem make those kinds of statements, I think that means noncompliance is a cause of death. And I don’t think that’s true,” Herndon told Bash. “This is not right for ICE. This is not right for DHS officials. This is not right politically, and it is not right morally.”
