PM Modi inaugurates new PMO at Seva Teerth complex

Modi unveiled Seva Teerth’s plaque at the new complex; his name was written in Devanagari script on the wall of the complex. Below it is the slogan ‘Nagrik Devo Bhava’ (citizen is like God).
The PMO will move from South Block on Raisina Hill to Seva Teerth, bringing together the offices of the Cabinet Secretariat and the National Security Council Secretariat located at different locations.
Modi, Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal, Minister of State in PMO Jitendra Singh and PMO officials were present at the inauguration ceremony of the new building.
The Modi government has taken steady steps since 2014 to move away from symbols of India’s colonial past and initiate a change in mindset, officials said.
They stated that the Prime Minister’s Office will now be called Seva Teerth, the Central Secretariat buildings will be renamed as Kartavya Bhawan and the Rajpath will be renamed as Kartavya Road.
Likewise, Race Course Road, where the prime minister’s official residence is located, was also renamed as Lok Kalyan Marg and Raj Bhawans and Raj Niwas were renamed as Lok Bhavan and Lok Niwas respectively. “The inauguration marks a transformative milestone in India’s administrative governance architecture and reflects the Prime Minister’s commitment to building a modern, efficient, accessible and citizen-centric governance ecosystem,” the PMO said in a statement on Thursday.
For decades, many key government departments and ministries have operated with fragmented and outdated infrastructure spread across multiple locations in the Central Vista area.
This distribution has led to operational inefficiencies, coordination challenges, increased maintenance costs, and suboptimal work environments. It was stated that the new building complexes provide solutions to these problems by combining administrative functions in modern, future-ready facilities.
