Dangerous moment laser targets police helicopter flying over city | News

In the early hours of Friday, July 18, a police helicopter was targeted by a green laser.

On the way to an incident, the National Police Air Service (NPAS) aircraft reported that their planes are targeted at an address in West Derby.

The NPAS helicopter returned to the region and set an address on Haydn Road.

Two young people aged 16 and 13 were arrested and detained on suspicion of polishing or guiding one laser beam towards a plane.

Captain Paul Watts, Head of NPAS Flight Operations, said: ız We cannot exaggerate how reckless it is to disturb a pilot and a crew with a laser.

“This is a serious crime. Our crew can detect where it comes from a laser strike.”
