Netanyahu says he was treated for prostate cancer

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he received successful treatment for early-stage prostate cancer, without specifying when the treatment occurred.
76-year-old Netanyahu said in a statement on social media while the annual health report was being published that an early-stage malignant tumor was detected during routine checks.
He said “targeted therapy” eliminated the “problem” and left no scars.
He said he was healthy and described the tumor as a “minor medical problem.”
According to the medical report, which states that the Prime Minister is in good health, Netanyahu received radiation treatment for early stage prostate cancer.
Neither the medical report nor Netanyahu said when the treatment took place.
Israel’s longest-serving prime minister said he delayed the release of the medical report for two months to prevent Iran from spreading “false propaganda against Israel.”
During the clashes with Iran in March, rumors circulating on social media and published in Iranian state media were that Netanyahu was dead.
To refute the allegations, the Israeli leader recorded a video of himself visiting a cafe in Jerusalem in March.
Netanyahu had surgery on his prostate in 2024 after being diagnosed with a urinary tract infection caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia.
He had a pacemaker implanted in 2023.
Elections will be held in Israel in October.
