Danny Rohl won’t be watching title rivals as Rangers bask in top spot

Rohl enjoyed impressive displays in attack for the second game in a row at Ibrox as his team scored four goals.

As the German said after the game, if Rangers win six games they will win the league.

The question is whether performances show they can do that, given that the opposition is becoming increasingly tough. Rohl was “convinced” they could.

The win against United was based on improved attacking performances, something that worked in Rangers’ favour. Are they creative enough?

However, they are the league’s top scorers and look even more threatening.

Thelo Aasgaard was a much-maligned figure in his first season at Ibrox but was involved in three of the four goals, including the third.

Djeidi Gassama, whose form had slumped after eye-catching early displays, was instrumental in pushing Rangers forward from the bench, setting up Aasgaard.

Striker Ryan Naderi also grabbed his first Premiership goal and was withdrawn at half-time due to an injury to Youssef Chermiti.

Rangers’ number nine took four shots and failed to score in an intense game but still searching for consistency, Andreas Skov Olsen failed once again before being withdrawn at half-time.

However, there is still a lot to build on.

“We need to be at the front and if we win six games we will have achieved something at the end of the season,” added Rohl.

“I’m really convinced that my players have the potential to do this. But there’s still a long way to go and it’s no secret that it’s going to be a very, very difficult game away at Falkirk next week.

“We will take things step by step but we have had nine ‘finals’ and won the first three.

“This gives us a good feeling but nothing more. We have to stay humble and ready for the next fight.”
