DC bus crash sends 3 people to hospital after hitting restaurant

A city bus crashed into a popular restaurant in Washington, D.C. Saturday morning, crashing into the empty dining hall and sending three people to the hospital.
DC Fire and EMS crews responded to the scene at 7th and Q streets of Northwest West following a crash involving a bus and another vehicle, according to a statement from the DC Fire and EMS Department.
Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) Metrobus hit the dining room of AMBAR Restaurant in the Shaw neighborhood, puncturing the building and coming to rest inside, which was empty at the time, FOX 5 reported.

“He crashed the vehicle into the 7th and Q Sts MW building. He crashed the empty restaurant with the bus,” the department wrote to X.
Authorities said four people were evaluated following the incident, and three adult women were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Firefighters secured the premises and investigated the structure, while a special collapse team was assigned to assess the stability of the building.
Authorities later said the bus was removed from the building and no major structural damage was reported. Fire crews determined that no support was required and began clearing the scene.

It is not yet known how many people were on the bus at the time of the incident.

AMBAR in D.C.’s Shaw neighborhood is a Michelin-recognized Balkan restaurant known for its popular all-you-can-eat brunch and dinner service, according to its website.
WMATA and the D.C. Fire and Emergency Department did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
