Tipp City Schools mourning loss of volleyball coach, former teacher killed in apparent home invasion

Tipp City Schools has identified the woman killed in a home invasion Monday morning as a district coach and former teacher.

District shared statement on social media Ashley Flynn was the volleyball coach at Tippecanoe Middle School and a “dedicated” substitute teacher, she said Monday afternoon.

The 37-year-old man was also a former full-time teacher in the district.

“She was known for her beautiful smile, warmth, kindness and the positive impact she had on so many people both in and out of the classroom and on the field,” the district said.

Police were called to the home at around 2:31 a.m. on a report that a resident who had been shot had been burglarized.

When officers arrived at the scene, they contacted Flynn’s husband and two children who were at the home.

It was determined that Flynn died at the scene.

The City of Tipp Police Chief told the News Center 7 crew at the scene that this was a burglary gone wrong and there were signs of forced entry.

No suspect was found during the search.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) was called to assist in the investigation.

Following his death, the school district sent a statement to families saying counseling services would be available today and tomorrow.
