Wimbledon 2026: Emma Raducanu pulls out through injury

Fears over the England number one’s fitness have grown over the past week.
Raducanu was seen wearing protective boots on Wednesday, then missed training on Thursday and Friday due to a shin problem.
The 2021 US Open champion returned to the course on Saturday to test his fitness and began an hour-long light session with his team, wearing tape on his lower right leg.
But she then interrupted another training session with 10 minutes remaining, playing a set with Russia’s Anna Kalinskaya.
There were signs of improvement in Sunday morning’s training session.
Raducanu was a little less hesitant to hit against partner Alexis Canter — especially when she pushed her right leg with a forehand — but it wasn’t as stern a test as her moves against Kalinskaya.
Later on Sunday Raducanu told the media he was willing to push himself and take more risks due to injury to make the step up to the All England Club.
“Playing in front of your home crowd at Wimbledon means everything to me, so this is really hard to digest,” Raducanu said.
