Delhi Toofans Beat Hosts Hyderabad Black Hawks in Straight Sets

Delhi Toofans won their first match of the season by defeating Hyderabad Black Hawks 15-10, 16-14, 17-15 in the RR Kabel Prime Volleyball League powered by Scapia at Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, Hyderabad on Friday. Carlos Berrios was named Player of the Match.

Hon’ble Minister of Sports and Youth Services Shri Vakiti Srihari and Chairman Telangana Sports Authority Shri. Shiva Sena Reddy was also present and met the players before the start.

Three consecutive service errors initially hampered Hyderabad. Jesus Chourio provided the Toofans with attacking prowess. Hyderabad responded with John Joseph firing from the mid-on area. But unforced errors continued to pile up in the Black Hawks’ early game.

Carlos showed his strength with his serves and tested Hyderabad’s defence. Delhi skipper Saqlain Tariq distributed the ball effectively to maintain unpredictability in the attack. The presence of Shikhar Singh and Sahil Kumar on the field provided some rhythm to the Hawks’ defence.

Muhammad Jasim’s mistake cost Delhi dearly but the blocker made up for the same mistake in the next over and earned a super point for his team. Anand’s exploits thrilled the audience and Toofans fans; The Delhi libero, on the other hand, dug deep to help his team win a crucial point and take control of the game.

Carlos continued to dominate Delhi’s frontcourt with consistent attacks. Seeing Toofans struggling defensively in the central region, Hyderabad started attacking from the centre. Under pressure from Vitor Yudi Yamamoto, Toofans made quick changes to the formation to stay on track for the win. With Carlos’ last attack, Delhi got their first win of the season.
