Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, faced backlash on social media and was labeled the “worst possible candidate” after she twisted her facts while trying to tie Republicans to Jeffrey Epstein’s donations during her House floor speech.
After some of the Epstein-related documents were released earlier this week, the non-voting congressional representative of the U.S. Virgin Islands, Del. Stacey Plaskett came under fire for texting with the disgraced financier during a 2019 congressional hearing about Donald Trump’s potential conflicts of interest.
Plaskett was fiercely defended by several of his Democratic colleagues in the House after Republicans tried to censure him; This includes Crockett, who tried to accuse Republicans of his own ties to Epstein but failed miserably.
Crockett said his team was “investigating” Federal Election Commission (FEC) records that he claimed showed Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) administrator and former Congressman Lee Zeldin of New York had accepted campaign donations from the disgraced financier in the past. But the donations came from a different Jeffrey Epstein, prompting backlash against Crockett from both sides.

“If you’re looking for a good way to set $50 million on fire and lose by 15 points, then Jasmine Crockett is your candidate,” a Democratic strategist told Fox News Digital after Crockett’s speech. Crockett has indicated that he will decide in the next few weeks, by the Dec. 8 deadline, whether he will indeed step into the ring to challenge incumbent Republican Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas.
“He has no chance of winning the Texas Senate race, and failures like this show why he is probably the worst possible candidate,” the Democratic strategist continued.
Meanwhile, Republicans did not hold back in their criticism of Crockett.
GOP strategist Matt Whitlock wrote on X: “Crockett should be reprimanded and staff fired for this.” “What a shocking disgrace to take the stand with such wild accusations and have the WRONG JEFFREY EPSTEIN.”
Washington Free Beacon investigative reporter Chuck Ross wrote of X: “I think Crockett gets it so wrong that politicians often outsource their opposition research to professionals.” “But you would also expect a member of Congress to know more about FEC filings.”
“Jasmine Crockett completely misinformed and even outright lied about various GOP politicians’ past potential donor relationships with Epstein,” former New York GOP Congresswoman Nan Hayworth said. he said.
Zeldin immediately responded to this mistake and stated that the person from whom he received campaign donations was a doctor named “Jeffrey Epstein”.

Crockett attempted to claim that Zeldin, as well as other Republicans such as Mitt Romney, the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), George Bush, John McCain, Sarah Palin and others, also received donations from the disgraced financier.
“This is a distraction…why are you more interested in talking about Stacey Plaskett than Trump’s relationship with Stacey Plaskett?” Crockett asked on the House floor in the midst of his decision to censure Plaskett, calling Trump and Epstein “friends.”
“Miss me for your moral high ground. People who also took money from someone named Jeffrey Epstein because I had my team investigate very quickly: Mitt Romney, NRCC, Lee Zeldin. George Bush, Win Red, McCain-Palin, Rick Lazio… If that’s the standard we’re going to apply, know that we will expose them all, and the FEC files are open for public inspection,” Crockett said.
Crockett had to be reconfirmed a few weeks ago because of comments that attempted to make it seem like Republicans were trying to hide the truth about President Trump regarding his involvement in Epstein’s crimes.

During an interview with CNN, Crockett tried to argue that Republicans omitted key information from documents about Epstein’s crimes. But the episode’s hosts had to step in and set the record straight, telling Crockett that it was actually Democrats who decided to tarnish the name of Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s accusers, who has not accused President Trump of any crime.
Conservative radio host Vince Coglianese said of Crockett’s CNN debacle: “His version of the truth is simply: ‘I’m not going to trust the Republicans. They probably made this up. And by the way, we’re never going to release the name of someone who’s already dead.” “Jasmine Crockett was trying to come up with a conspiracy theory – literally, on the fly – to defend the callous and shameful behavior of Democrats. Where have we seen this before? Well, I don’t know, every Democrat made-up scandal we’ve ever seen about Donald Trump. They’re constantly trying to smear him. It’s the rallying smear that’s constantly being done over and over and over.”
Fox News Digital reached out to Crockett for comment but did not receive a response.
