Democrats are busy bashing themselves. Needed, or just needy?

California is a failed state to hear what the Republicans said, and Donald Trump won a landslide presidency, which gave him the authority to do it as he wanted. There is no surprise there.
But the democrats are increasingly reiterating these speaking points. The Democratic Party has been on a nation -wide tour of Flegellation since Kamala Harris lost its elections. One after another, their leaders put their heads in the depths of their Navels, hoping to learn why so many Americans – especially young people, black voters and Latins escaped from the former vice president.
Even in California, a reliable blue state, the search for spirit, as seen at the State Democratic Party Congress last weekend, was seen at a speaker’s parade, including Harris’s 2024 run, and Tim Walz-Wailed and moaned and did something grieving.
Is it a long extreme intimacy or just a annoying pity? Our columnists Anita Chabria and Mark Z. Barabak take him out.
Chabria: You were on the congress in Mark, Keyeim. Thoughts?
Barabak: I will begin by stating that this was the first congress I attended and that I was in dozens of, and it was ranked as “r için for adult language. Apparently, the Democrats think of voters by leaving many F-bomba in which they can show their originality and passions. But it looked a little simple and after a while he grew tiring.
I have dealt with Nancy Pelosi for more than thirty years and I didn’t hear the word a curse once in a public or private. Martin Luther King Jr. [expletive deleted] Dream. “Both were very effective leaders.
Democrats have a lot of work to do. However, cursing a blue line will not recover the control of the White House or Congress.
Chabria: As a person known to routinely cursing in the polite society, I am not a man to judge an explanatory. But this blasphemy and confusion bring to a greater point: the democrats are desperate to prove how serious and passion for them are to correct themselves. Gov. Gavin Newsom described the democratic brand as “toxic .. Walz said to his DEMS friend: “We are in this mess, because some of them are doing their own.”
Apparently, the only thing that the democrats can agree with is that they are lame. Or at least they see themselves as lame. I am not sure that an average person finds democratic ideals such as equality or necessary process, especially Trump and Maga Brigade as many campaigns progresses-disintegration, recovery of civil rights, stripping the names of civil rights icons from ships-at least some voters are more speaking than matter than matter.
I always tell my children to be their own hero, and I start thinking that the Democrats should hear it. Take yourself. Remove yourself from dust. Continue. Do you think all this is useful to buy itself, Mark? Does the loss of Harris really mean that the party is deprived of values or values?
Barabak: I think reflecting yourself is good for the party, to a point. The Democrats suffered a disgraceful loss in the Senate in November-at the level of presidential and the GOP seized control, and many of their traditional voters stayed at home. It would be a political wrong practice not to understand why.
However, there is a tendency to overcome the long -term importance of any selection and to excessively interpret.
This is not the end of the Democratic Party. One of the two major parties did not first enter the political wild nature.
In 1984 and 1988, the Democrats passed the search for a similar spirit after the presidential losses. In 1991, a book was published how the Democrats were condemned to lose the White House and that they would do it for the predictable future. In November 1992, Bill Clinton was elected president. Four years later he began to choose again.
In 2013, after two flat lost presidential campaigns, the Republicans launched a political autopsy that called on the party to increase access to homosexual and Latin voters, as well as other proposals. In 2016, Donald Trump – is not exactly an inclusion model – selected.
In the meantime, how Times wrote Postmortem: “According to the internal GOP study, a slightly varying stale policies and minorities and an image that alienates young people, a self -righteous, indifferent, ideologically strict national republican party closes most of the American voters.”
Sound Family?
Of course, look inside. But to us existential freak.
Chabria: I also claim that this moment is more than the next election. I think there are questions about whether democracy can do so long, and if so, the next round in the surveys will be free and fair.
I know that the price of everything continues to increase, and traditional wisdom is that everything is related to the economy. However, as usual, the Democrats seem to be stuck in election politics. However, these are unusual times that require more. There are many people who do not like to see their neighbors, families or friends gathered by immigration and customs enforcement agents; Many people who do not want to see that Medicaid has been cut millions are likely to be in the next joinery block; Many people who fear our courts will not keep the line up to midterm exams.
They want to know that democrats are struggling to protect these things in order not to fight each other. I agree that any loss should follow the intimacy. But at the same time, there is a hunger for leadership against this administration, and the democrats lose the opportunity to be these leaders with their infinite self -immly.
Has Harris really lost that bad? Did Trump really take part in the end of America as we know?
Barabak: No and no.
So, it is a lost loss. Trump swept the states of seven war areas, and unlike 2000, the election was beyond the dispute.
However, Trump’s margin on Harris was only 1.5% in the popular vote – this was far from the landslide region – and he did not even win most of the support. Only 50% shy falls.
As for a so -called mission, the most concise and sensitive post -election analysis came from Yuval Levin, who marked the third presidential campaign of Trump’s victory and the third presidential campaign lost by the party in the task as something that has not been seen since the 19th century.
Meydanciler wrote, “Their rivals won the elections because they are not popular,” Levin wrote, “And then – to imagine the agenda of the party activists – they use the power of their offices to make themselves popular.”
A long way for 2026 and even longer to 2028.
But Levin is sure it looks smart.
Chabria: I know Kamala-Bashing is currently popular, but I claim that Harris is not very popular-not just popular enough with some.
Harris had 107 days for the campaign. Many candidates Spend years If you run for the White House and count the Coy “maybe” period. It was not known by most Americans, he encountered double discrimination of race and gender, and (to be fair) was never frequently accepted as charismatic. So all these baggage to almost divide the popular vote are remarkable.
But maybe Elon Musk said that best. As part of the scattered disintegration with Trump, the billionaire tweeted: “Without me, Trump would lose the election, the DEMS would check the Assembly and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate.”
Sometimes there is real in anger. Musk’s money influenced this election and possibly overthrew to Trump in at least one war area. Postmortem should examine not only the message but also the environment. Is what the Democrats say, or do the right -wing oligarchs dominate communication?
Barabak:
Chabria: Sign?
Barabak: I am sad.
I was caught in the show of all the richest men in the world Neenner-Neener I followed where we were with the most powerful man in the world.
With all respect Marshall McLUHANI think the democrats first need to find a message to carry them in the 2026 midterm exams. In 2018, they were quite successful by pushing GOP’s efforts to eliminate Obamacare if you wish. If Republicans buy a meat axis to Medicare and millions of Americans lose their health services, it is not difficult to see them resurrecting this game book.
Then, the 2028 bride will choose a presidential candidate, and then they will have their colleagues who can focus on the environment – TV, radio, podcasts, tiktok, bluesky, or currently something else.
Now, I apologize when I returned my landscapes to the sand pool.
