Collett heads to Hawkesbury hoping to continue hot streak

Form jockey Jason Collett expects the quality to shine at the Hawkesbury on Tuesday, with five mounts ringing in winners at Randwick last weekend.

Collett had a great day on Saturday in Group 2, winning the $2 million The Invitation to Stefi Magnetika and the $1 million Callander-Presnell with Ohope, and scoring against Oakfield Jupiter in the Midway Handicap.

“It was an absolutely fantastic day at Randwick and now I’m ready to keep the momentum going, starting at Hawkesbury on Tuesday,” Collett said.

Collett will join Warwick Farm trainer Joseph Pride, who won the Group 1 $2 Million Spring Championship Stakes with Attica when competing in the Casserousse Wellbring Maiden Handicap (1100m) last Saturday.

Like Attica, Casserousse is raced by Godolphin; Pride has achieved great success since becoming one of the instructors appointed by the holding company when it moved to a public education model.

Casserousse recovers from the spell, and Collett is impressed by what he sees in his trials.

“I didn’t ride him in the trials but he looked good with a second and a win in each race at Warwick Farm,” the jockey said. “The race Joe has chosen to run looks like a good one and a good chance to open his winning account.”

Collett will partner the Michael Freedman-trained pair Empress Of Japan in the Richmond Club F&M Benchmark 64 Handicap (1400m) and Swing State in the Evergreen Turf Maiden Plate (1800m).

He will also run Koning in the Elite Sand And Soil Midway Benchmark 64 Handicap (1800m) for Richard and Will Freedman. Collett finishes the day in the Clarendon Tavern C,G&E Benchmark 64 Handicap (1400m) Scorched Lane for Anthony and Sam Freedman.
