Denied Protection Money, Mechanic Thrashed To Death In Bengaluru

BENGALUR: In the horrific incident that took place within the Wilson Garden police station limits of Bengaluru city, mechanic Rasheed Pasha (45) died after he was violently attacked by unidentified persons, said to be some goons wielding cricket bats and sticks, according to a video released on Monday. The attack on the mechanic was allegedly due to the refusal to pay them protection money (weeks) to set up a garage on Bada Makan road of Wilson Garden.

The incident is said to have occurred near Bada Makan road in Wilson Garden on Sunday night. The attack on Pasha took place in front of his children who were with him at the scene. Meanwhile, the police launched an investigation.

Sources said Pasha worked as a four-wheeler mechanic before deciding to open his garage. On Sunday morning, Pasha started the construction work in his garage, primarily with the molding works. Noticing that a new garage had opened in their vicinity, three people approached Pasha and demanded 50,000 rupees as protection money to set up his business.

The request was rejected by the Pasha, leading to a heated exchange of words. The defendants left the scene and returned at around 21.30 in the evening to argue with Pasha. When Pasha made it clear that he would not pay them, the accused got angry and started beating him with cricket bats and bamboo sticks, after which they left Pasha seriously injured on the spot and disappeared.

Pasha, who was seriously injured, was taken to a nearby hospital by the surrounding citizens and later died due to his injuries. Wilson Garden police have registered a case and investigations are ongoing.
