Derek Chauvin conviction questioned after Minneapolis ICE shooting response

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin likely spends the rest of his life in prison, and while opinions vary on whether he killed George Floyd in 2020, the actions of Minnesota political leadership this week have called his conviction into question and make clear they have no place in any further investigation into the death of Renee Good.

As soon as Wednesday’s tragic shooting occurred, Minneapolis mayor and famous BLM serialist Jacob Frey came out and said it was murder! Frey didn’t wait for the evidence, much of which was on video. He immediately offered the federal ICE agent as a sacrifice to the vigilant gods of Minnesota’s lakes.

Similarly, Gov. Tim Walz, fresh off the embarrassment of ending his reelection campaign for failing to police massive fraud by Somali immigrants whose office the federal government was investigating, railed against President Trump and Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The Minneapolis city council members who stayed far enough back for Chairman Mao to say, “Hey, slow down,” all condemned the ICE agent and proudly characterized a now clearly justified shooting as cold-blooded murder.

ANTI-ICEERS THREAT AGENTS AT CHAOTIC MINNESOTA PROTESTS: ‘WE WILL DIE’

Minneapolis citizens took to the streets, throwing snowballs at their local police, and local businesses proudly hung signs in their windows teaching people how to use whistles to prevent ice.

In this disgustingly insane political environment that Minnesotans have created for themselves, the federal agent has as good a chance of a fair trial as the Vikings have of winning this year’s Super Bowl, which is to say none.

I was talking this week to a journalist friend of mine who I respect very much, and she said, somewhat defeatedly, “Next week we move on to the next thing,” and yes, that’s true for us, but not for the last person whose life was in danger here, the ICE agent who shot and killed a Minneapolis woman who tried to run him over in her Honda Pilot.

As a journalist, I am ashamed of how I handled the aftermath of George Floyd’s death. Any doubts I had about Derek Chauvin’s criminal culpability at the time were stunned by my knee-jerk knee-jerk reaction to the “profound national reckoning,” especially when a toxicology report showed Floyd had dangerous levels of fentanyl and methamphetamine in his system when he died.

Chauvin and his family mattered nothing in those heady days when former Vice President Kamala Harris was fundraising to put criminals back on the streets, cities were in flames and Tim Walz’s wife was thrilled by the smell of fire in Minneapolis.

We all knew Chauvin was toast. The man had no chance in this environment, but like cowards we claimed that a broader principle was more important than this man’s life.

RENEE NICOLE IS A GOOD PART OF THE ‘ICE WATCH’ GROUP, DHS SOURCES SAY

Not anymore.

Conservatives in America are done playing this game. We defended Daniel Penny for his bravery in a New York City subway car, we defended Kyle Rittenhouse when he used lethal force in defense, and today we will defend an ICE agent who acted lawfully when lives were at stake.

Director Kash Patel and his FBI would be crazy to invite Minnesota law enforcement officials who watched their own police precincts be burned to the ground in the Floyd riots anywhere near the current investigation.

NOEM PRAISES DHS OFFICIALS ON DAY TO THANK REPRESENTATIVES FOR NATIONWIDE ATTACKS ON FEDERAL AGENTS

It is encouraging to see that the Department of Homeland Security and Vice President J.D. Vance fully support the ICE agent. Just as a good mayor supports his cops, a good vice president supports federal agents when they are clearly in the right.

Here’s a short list of lies the liberal media and Democratic politicians have told about the shooting in just two days:

The car never hit him

It wasn’t blocking traffic

She was leaving her child.

He is not one leftist agitator

Conflicting orders were given

Most of the jury pool in Minneapolis already believes these disgusting lies, because Democrats and the liberal media want to maintain stale, tissue-paper credibility, and if it means an innocent man getting raped in prison, at least they still have podcasts to laugh about it.

Unfortunately, the Trump administration does not have the authority to seek clemency for Derek Chauvin or even reopen the case at the state level, but they can learn from this, protecting a man who spent 10 years as an ICE agent protecting you and me.

This ICE agent should not be thrown to the radical left wolves of Minneapolis, even if it is too late to save Derek Chauvin and his family from that fate.
