A local resident has shared her harrowing attempts to save a 16-year-old girl who was stabbed in the back ‘because of a boy’.
Chloe Watson died tragically after being found unconscious on Kennerleigh Avenue in Austhorpe, Leeds, at 5.55am on Saturday, March 28.
Wayne Mallows, from Leeds, told how he and other neighbors tried to save the “lifeless” teenager.

“I was called home at around 5.50am on Saturday morning by a person walking his dog,” he told the Mirror.

“He said my neighbor was outside doing CPR on a young girl. He was getting tired.
“I asked if they had called the ambulance and then I noticed there was a phone on the ground and it was on speaker. Ambulance control was giving him instructions.
“I took over until the ambulance arrived 10 minutes later. He had been stabbed in the back and there was a lot of blood. His eyes were empty.”
Mr Mallows said the street was generally very quiet and was home to many retirees.
“When the ambulance arrived around 6am the paramedics took out all the kit and tried to reactivate the heart and were doing chest compressions,” he added.
“They did that for about five minutes and then they put him in the ambulance. The police kept coming.
“I have a picture of his face in my mind.
“He looked very young to me, younger than 16.” Chloe was seriously injured and was immediately taken to hospital; He was tragically pronounced dead a short time later, West Yorkshire Police reported.
A GoFundMe page has been set up in Chloe’s name, and family member Shantelle Watson shared that the family is ‘devastated’
Shantelle wrote: “My 16-year-old cousin’s life unfortunately turned into a tragedy. She was 16. She didn’t even make it to 18; her whole life passed away because of one boy. Her mother is devastated; she left behind her two younger siblings.”
A senior investigating officer confirmed that police “treated her death as murder and arrested four people in connection with it”.
On Saturday, two 18-year-old women, a 20-year-old man and a 17-year-old young man were detained on suspicion of murder. All four remain in police custody while the crime scene is secured and officers conduct investigations.
Senior investigating officer, Detective Superintendent Marc Bowes, previously said: “Following an appeal for further information yesterday, we have identified the deceased as a 16-year-old girl from the Cleckheaton area. “Her family have been informed and we are supporting them as they try to come to terms with what happened.
“Our investigations into the incident that led to his death are ongoing and I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Kennerleigh Avenue in the early hours of yesterday morning to come forward if they have any information that could assist our investigation.”
