Dhinakaran favours restoration of Old Pension Scheme

Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) general secretary TTV Dhinakaran on Thursday, January 8, 2026, supported the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme, stating that it is the only solution to the vexing pension problem.

Referring to reports of sections of State government employees and teachers’ associations writing to Chief Minister MK Stalin to remove the premium component from the Tamil Nadu Assured Pension Scheme (TAPS), Mr. Dhinakaran, in a post on his social media handle, said that the State government should reconsider its decision to implement the new pension scheme as the associations have pointed out various inconsistencies and flaws in the proposed scheme.
