The Department of Homeland Security revealed the large percentage of foreign countries whose total national population entered the United States illegally, noting that the majority of crossings occurred between February 2021 and January 2025.
According to US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) data, the countries with the most citizens living in the US are Nicaragua, Cuba, Haiti and Honduras.
“Under Biden – 8% of Nicaragua’s ENTIRE population entered the US illegally,” DHS wrote to X. “This is IN ADDITION to Cuba’s 7%, Haiti’s 6%, and Honduras’ 5%.”
The total number of illegal immigrants from various countries is in the multimillions, and DHS has criticized the Biden administration for allegedly turning “America into a dumping ground for third-world criminals.”

The department’s pointing finger at Biden has been a central theme of Secretary Kristi Noem and DHS’s stance, and the Trump administration is pushing ahead with deportation efforts amid criticism from Democrats in Washington and across the country.
In an interview at the southern border in Eagle Pass, Texas, earlier this month, Noem touted the efforts that led to what the White House described as “the most secure border in the history of this nation.”
“In just one year, under the previous administration, we went from this type of situation to a safe situation,” Noem told Fox News Digital during an exclusive interview. “Thousands of people died [at the border] “Because Joe Biden and the Democrats have decided to cut the fence and partner with the cartels to allow a child exploitation invasion that brings unprecedented drug, smuggling and sex trafficking.”

BORDER CROSSINGS REACHED THE LOWEST IN 55 YEARS AFTER DEMOCRATS SAID REFORM WAS THE ONLY SOLUTION
“This was immediately stopped when President Trump arrived,” Noem added.
Noem and her department have faced intense scrutiny from Democrats and some Republicans over their immigration enforcement tactics following the deadly shootings of Alex Pretti and Renee Good in Minnesota. Trump campaigned on promises to deport millions of illegal immigrants entering the Biden administration, and Noem argued that Democrats who criticized the enforcement measures were now ignoring the real humanitarian concerns caused by the border crisis under the last administration.
“Where were the Democrats who talk about detention centers every day, who talk about our enforcement operations in the United States, while this crisis was going on?” Noem asked. “A hundred times more people were dying on this border because of what they did, and they didn’t say a word.”

In Washington, a partial government shutdown over DHS funding continues, with Democrats demanding new policies for ICE operations and Noem and her department remaining committed to deporting illegal immigrants.
Approximately 90% of DHS employees are considered essential and are required to work without pay. ICE is already funded almost entirely through the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” and previous provisions in other legislation.

Border Czar Tom Homan said in an interview with CNN that the closure will have “no impact” on immigration enforcement operations currently conducted in the United States.
“[Democrats] For political reasons, we chose to act against the American people, and now we have FEMA workers, the men and women of the United State Coast Guard. [the] “The men and women of TSA who keep our airports running will be working without a paycheck for no justifiable reason other than Democrats want to fight Donald Trump,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said at a news conference Wednesday.
