Diogo Jota: Portugal forward’s children lead tributes before Liverpool v Wolves

Liverpool And wolves A memorial ceremony was held on the emotional day when Diogo Jota faced Anfield for the first time since his death.
The 28-year-old Portuguese striker died in a car accident with his 25-year-old brother Andre Silva in Spain in July.
Jota was transferred to Liverpool in 2020 after three seasons at Wolves.
Dinis and Duarte, two of his three children, joined the matchday mascots on the pitch ahead of Saturday’s Premier League match.
Jota’s sons, along with other young family members, led the Liverpool squad out of the tunnel, marching in front of captain Virgil van Dijk.
Jota’s wife, Rute Cardoso, also attended the meeting.
Before kick-off, a banner reading ‘Diogo Jota, forever in our hearts’ was unfurled in the Kop stand.
Liverpool fans sang in tribute to Jota in the 20th minute, while away chants of “Diogo, Diogo, Diogo” rose from Wolves fans before the entire Anfield stood and applauded.
Dutch midfielder Ryan Gravenberch scored Liverpool’s first goal, dedicating it to Jota and recreating the shark-style celebration the Portuguese striker sometimes uses.
