The idol of Goddess Padmavati Ammavaru was taken in a procession on the ‘Muthyapu Pandiri Vahanam’, a pearl-studded dome around the Tiruchanur temple here on Wednesday (November 19), the third of the nine-day Kartheeka Brahmotsavams.

The pearls placed on a satin cloth on a dark blue background presented a magnificent sight to the devotees who gathered in large numbers to watch the procession. It is believed that taking a look at the idol hidden under the shadow of pearls will purify one’s sins.

Senior and junior pastors Tirumala Tirupati Pedda Jeeyangar and Chinna Jeeyangar respectively led the march, which also included Chief Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal, Joint EO V. Veerabrahmam and Deputy EO Harindranath.

In the evening, the idol, resembling a wild lion, was carried in a procession around the temple on ‘Simha Vahanam’. While the goddess is often considered the bestower of prosperity, the idol sitting on a lion during this procession is presented as the slayer of evil.
