Dog who helped police Queen’s funeral dies in crash

Queen II. Elizabeth said that a police dog who participated in the funeral was died after a car accident.

PD Bert, a five -year -old Springer Spaniel belonging to Cleveland Police, collided with a BMW in Hartlepool on Thursday at 21:00 on Thursday, a civil servant and another dog.

Both dogs were taken to the vet and said that PD Bert fell asleep because of the seriousness of their injuries.

It was found that the other dog was not damaged and that the officer was subjected to minor injuries.

A 33 -year -old man was arrested after the incident and was accused of a drink driving, but the police said he continued to investigate “full conditions”.

The suspect has been expected to appear in bail since then and in Teesside Magistrate Criminal Court on August 1st.

The PD Bert served as Sniffer dog for three and a half years with Cleveland police and was assigned to detect drugs, cash and firearms.

He was once praised by the force using the sense of smell to find £ 250,000 in a single search.

Together with other dogs and police operators, he responded to an emergency event when the accident occurred.

PD Bert was deployed to London in September 2022, as part of the policing operation around the Late Queen’s funeral, when an estimated one million people join the procession through the capital.
