Donald Trump news: US President predicts Gaza ceasefire ‘within a week’, talks with Israel and Hamas intensify

US President Donald Trump expressed his optimism in the Gaza conflict between Israel and Iran -backed Hamas militants.

Speaking to journalists in Oval Office, Trump said that an agreement between Israel and Hamas could be close.

He added that he has recently talked to individuals who participated in the negotiations to stop the hostility in the region.

Hamas says it is willing to release the hostages in Gaza under any agreement to end the war, but Israel can only end if Hamas is disarmed and dismantled. Hamas refuses to leave his arms.

According to Israeli Tallies, the war in Gaza attacked Israel, killed 1200 people and took 251 hostages on 7 October 2023.

Gaza Health Ministry, Israel’s military attack after October 7 killed more than 56,000 Palestinians, he said. The attack also led to a hunger crisis, displaced the entire population of Gaza in an international Court of Justice and caused genocide charges at the International Criminal Court. Israel rejects the charges.

The interest in solving the Gaza conflict won steam after the bombing of the US and Israel’s nuclear facilities. The 12-day Israel-Iranian conflict entered into force at the beginning of this week.

“I think it’s close. I just talked to some people involved, Tr Trump said. “We think we will buy a ceasefire in the next week.”

He did not tell who he was talking to, but he said he was in contact with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during the Israeli-Iranian conflict.

There was a few signs that Mr. Trump was a surprise prediction of a possible ceasefire agreement in the coming days, that the fighting parties were ready to restart serious negotiations or to bud from settled positions.
