Labour’s Lisa Nandy torn to shreds by Question Time audience member | Politics | News

A viewer of Question Time tonight slammed Cabinet Minister Lisa Nandy over immigration hotels and accused her of labeling people with concerns as ‘far-right’. Opening the show, Fiona Bruce touched on recent news that the government wanted to move illegal immigrants from hotels to military sites and asked Ms Nandy whether this was the right policy.
The Culture Minister said migrant hotels were a “disaster” for the local community, partly due to “far-right racists protesting”. Hearing this comment, one of the audience members harshly criticized the comments of the leading Labor Party politician.
He blasted: “By ‘far right’ do you mean the general public? That’s my real concern, because you’re labeling ordinary old women, old gentlemen, everyone, as far right. It’s clearly trying to vilify people who are terrified.”
“You have hotels, you have all-you-can-eat buffets… we invited everyone to this country and that made Britain great.
“But you are being mean by saying we are so right.
“I come from the Labor Party – I have grown out of the Labor Party and I am now fighting to support the Labor Party.”
Ms Nandy hit back by insisting that when she said “far right” she was referring to protesters who were “traveling to her constituency in Wigan with swastika banners and standing outside hotels”.
Reform activist and Great Britain News presenter Matthew Goodwin received rapturous applause from the audience as he called out Labour’s complete failure to deal with the problem and regain control of Britain’s borders.
Mr Goodwin fumed: “Everyone is looking at the absolute chaos at the borders, everyone is paying £15bn to accommodate people who frequently break our laws.
“These islands are known for having a sense of fairness. We created the idea of fair play, that’s not what happens in this country. We have governments – both Tory and Labor – that encourage people to break our laws, enter our country illegally and quite frankly put women, children and our people at risk.”
