Donald Trump once again makes BIG claim about India-Pakistan war, says ‘eight planes were shot down…’

They were not happy and I resolved the war within 24 hours. “I couldn’t have done this without the tariffs.”

US President Donald Trump once again claimed that he used trade tariffs to stop a possible full-scale war between India and Pakistan, stating that his intervention “resolved” the dispute within 24 hours. Speaking to reporters at the White House on Thursday, Trump said, “Of the eight wars I’ve ended, five or six were because of tariffs. If you look at India and Pakistan, two nuclear countries, they were about to fight. Eight planes were shot down. So I said, ‘If you’re going to war, I’m going to put tariffs on you.’

They were not happy and I resolved the war within 24 hours. “I couldn’t have done this without the tariffs.”

The US President referred to the border clashes between India and Pakistan following India’s precision strikes on Pakistani terror camps as part of Operation Sindoor, which was launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians in Jammu and Kashmir in May this year.

At the same briefing after announcing a new policy to lower the prices of weight-loss drugs, Trump praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling him a “great man” and a “friend” and hinting that he might visit India next year.

“He (Prime Minister Modi) has largely stopped buying from Russia. He’s my friend and we talk. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a great guy. He wants me to go there and I will. We’ll figure this out,” Trump told reporters.

“Maybe,” he said when asked directly about his travel plans.

Earlier this week, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt reaffirmed Trump’s commitment to strengthening the India-US relationship, describing it as a partnership the President feels “very strongly about.”

“The President is positive and feels very strongly about India-US relations. He spoke directly to Prime Minister Modi a few weeks ago while celebrating Diwali with senior Indian American officials in the Oval Office,” Leavitt said. he said.

Trump’s comments about stopping a possible war between India and Pakistan were similar to those he made at last week’s Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in South Korea, in which he claimed he was “threatening India and Pakistan with tariffs” to prevent a potential nuclear war.

However, India has flatly rejected Trump’s version of the incident. MEA stated that the ceasefire between India and Pakistan was maintained through military communication channels established between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMO) of both sides.

“India’s position has not changed; all issues with Pakistan will be resolved bilaterally, without the involvement of any third party,” the ministry said. he said.
