Donald Trump reportedly asks US Supreme Court to overturn E Jean Carroll sexual abuse, defamation verdict

It has been reported that US President Donald Trump asked the Supreme Court to overturn the decision that he sexually harassed and slandered a woman due to an incident that took place in the 90s.
A jury found that Mr Trump sexually assaulted writer E Jean Carroll in a department store dressing room in the 1990s.
Mr. Trump has staunchly denied the allegations since the lawsuit first emerged; but was ordered to pay US$83.3 million by the judge in two trials after the jury reached their verdicts.
A petition has reportedly been filed with the Supreme Court by the US President’s legal team, but the documents have not yet been made public.
TopThe US political news outlet claims to have seen a copy of the application and claims Ms Caroll’s claims are “seemingly implausible, politically motivated claims”.
Ms Carroll did not make her allegations public until after Mr Trump won the 2019 US presidential election.
After he denied her allegations, the author sued the then-current US President for defamation.
“Carroll waited more than 20 years until he became the 45th President to falsely accuse Donald Trump, whom he opposed politically, until Trump was able to maximize the political damage to him and profit for himself,” the petition reads, according to The Hill.
Mr. Trump, the White House or Ms. Caroll have yet to comment on reports of Mr. Trump’s legal team’s Supreme Court request.
More to come…
