BBC visits Myanmar polling station as civil war rages on

BBC News South East Asia Correspondent Jonathan Head visits a polling station in Myanmar as the country votes in what has been widely described as a “sham” election.

Almost five years after the military seized power in a coup, major political parties were closed and most of their leaders were imprisoned.

This led to widespread opposition, leading to ongoing civil war.
