Don’t ban Elon Musk’s X — force it to have safeguards: advocates

The longer Elon Musk’s X refuses to stop its AI from creating deepfake abuse images, the more pressure governments around the world face to intervene.

Although some countries have banned or even tried to ban X itself or the AI assistant Grok function, Anti-child abuse and women’s groups in Australia are calling on the federal government to use its existing internet security powers against the social media and artificial intelligence company instead.

The International Center for Missing and Exploited Children Australia (ICMEC) and activist group Collective Shout have called on the government to investigate and pursue X (now owned by the company xAI) for its failure to protect the use of its products as required by law.
