Double decker bus crashes into bridge in Manchester

Emergency Services, a pair -storey bus after hitting a bridge in Manchester after tearing the roof declared a big event.

The Great Manchester police said they responded to a collision between a bus and a bridge at the intersection of Barton Road and Trafford Road in EcCles around 15.00 on Monday.

“Emergency services are at the scene as a part of the ongoing work. Please avoid the area because the road closures are in force right now.”

The North Western ambulance service, which received a call around 15.00, declared a big event after a short time and acted to people.

The images circulating on social media seem to show a yellow pair of buses that hit a bridge with a 3.5 -meter height limit.

10 Emergency Ambulances, Advanced Health Officials, Dangerous Intervention Team (HART) and North West Air Air Ambulance attended the stage.

Patients were taken to Salford Royal and Manchester Royal Revir hospitals. The ambulance service stopped at around 16.22 o’clock, but continues to stay at the scene.

Transportation for Greater Manchester confirmed that the bus is 100 services and operates during the incident.

Greater Manchester Transportation Commissioner Vernon Everitt said: “First of all, our thoughts were with everyone on the bus. Our absolute focus point was to support emergency services by being treated at the scene and some people were hospitalized.

“We are immediately and an emergency investigation into the conditions and we work closely with the investigation team at Greater Manchester police and bus operator Stagecoach.

“This is clearly sad for everyone concerned and we want to thank the emergency services for their quick responses.”

The road closure was applied and the area is busy. An investigation continues at the scene and the damaged bus was removed from the scene.

The transportation operator warned that some local blockages may occur as the diversion of the evenings.

“In order to support people traveling in the region, bus tickets are accepted on ECLES and Trafford Park Metrolink lines, while road deviations are available,” the operator said.

In April 2023, the police responded to a similar incident with a pair of Decker bus hit the bridge on EcCles Lane.
