Downtown Augusta gunfight results in apparent shooting of 3-year-old

A 3-year-old boy was apparently shot early Sunday as a result of a shooting in downtown Augusta.
Deputies headed to 10th Street between Broad and Ellis streets after gunshots were heard around 2:30 a.m., according to a news release from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office. There they found several people who had fled the scene and managed to detain three of them.
Deputies also located an injured 3-year-old child with an apparent gunshot wound at Ninth and Greene streets. The child was taken to Wellstar Hospital for treatment, but the child’s condition was not immediately mentioned in the press release.
