While Michael Rosen announced that his 18-year-old son died of the infection, he called on families to check every part of their body if they suspect their children are showing symptoms of meningitis.
“It looked like the flu. People talk about the rash and assume it was on his arms or chest, but I only learned when Eddie died that the rash only appeared in his armpits.
Asked for his advice to parents, Mr. Rosen insisted: “Look everywhere, don’t be intrusive, but under the armpits.” [are] It’s not that intrusive. Ask your teens to look at their crotch.
“The glass test is definitely effective.”
The charity Meningitis Now says anyone with a fever and a rash that does not disappear under the pressure of glass needs urgent medical attention.
