“With that said,” Attia added, “I apologize and regret putting myself in a situation where emails, some of which were embarrassing, distasteful and indefensible, are now public, and that is my responsibility. I accept that fact and the humiliation that comes with it.”
In his tweet, Attia sent an email to Epstein in June 2015 with the subject line “I received a new shipment,” and the doctor also included a photo of bottles of metformin medication in the email.
Attia wrote that Epstein “responded by saying ‘me too’ and attached a photo of an adult woman.” “I responded with rude and unpleasant banter.”
“It’s so embarrassing to read this post right now and I won’t defend it. I’m ashamed of myself for everything about it. I realized at the time that this post wasn’t a reference to anything dark or harmful, it was childish,” he added.
Attia also wrote that she met Epstein in 2014 “through a prominent female health leader while raising funds for scientific research.”
Epstein was released from Florida state prison nearly five years ago after serving 13 months for soliciting sex from a minor.
Attia wrote to

“Shortly after we met, I asked him directly about his 2008 conviction. He described it as charges related to prostitution,” Attia wrote. “I learned in 2018 that this had been greatly minimized… I was incredibly naive in believing him. I mistook his social acceptance for acceptability in the eyes of trusted people I saw him with, and this was a serious error in my judgment. “To be clear, I never witnessed illegal behavior and never saw a minor in his presence.
Epstein killed himself in prison in New York in August 2019, weeks after he was arrested on federal child sex trafficking charges.
