Dragging Gaurav’s family, children into ‘Pak link’ allegation by Assam CM wrong politics: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra

Guwahati: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday criticized Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for attacking Gaurav Gogoi over his alleged Pakistan links and asserted that dragging his family and children into this was “wrong policy”.

After paying tribute to Zubeen Garg at the cremation ground ‘Zubeen Khetra’ in Sonapur on the outskirts of Guwahati, Vadra said that the singer was “above politics” and spread the message of love throughout her life.

When asked about Sarma’s repeated attacks on the Assam Congress president for his alleged Pakistan connections, he said, “There are two types of leaders in politics; one who does positive politics and the other who does polarization. Gaurav Gogoi is doing love politics.”

Vadra maintained that Gogoi “is a positive person and wants to bring positivity in politics”.

“That’s why such attacks are being made against him. The people of Assam understand this. But attacks on Gaurav and his family are wrong policy. Nobody should attack the family and children (of a political leader),” Vadra said.

The Wayanad MP said that the Assam CM “should talk about the job-seeking youth and women of the state” instead of such policies.
“You see how much corruption is taking place. This is just betrayal of the people of the state,” he told reporters.

“Zubeen Garg was above politics. The burial ground should be a sacred place and should not be used for politics,” he added.
