Police officer, 27, dies in horror crash as colleague ‘critically ill’ | UK | News

A “selfless” police officer died in the line of duty. Kent Police said 27-year-old constable Bradley Corke died in a car crash near Farningham on Thursday while responding to an “emergency call”. He died on Saturday following the incident. He and a colleague who was in critical condition in hospital were on duty when the marked police car crashed. One of the citizens in the second vehicle is being treated for serious injuries.

Police said: “Bradley selflessly gave up his life trying to save the lives of other people in danger.

“His courage, dedication and passion for helping others will not be forgotten.”

Kent Police Federation chief executive Neil Mennie said: “We are all very saddened to learn this news.

“Bradley was a popular colleague who will be greatly missed and we will do all we can to support his family and close colleagues at this time.

“Policing is a family and words cannot express the pain we all feel and how this news will affect us in the days, weeks and months to come.

“This harrowing incident is a horrific example of the risks police officers face and how they can unfortunately make the ultimate sacrifice as they strive to keep the public safe.”

PC Corke was based in Tonbridge and served in West Kent towns throughout his police career. He has served in the force since May 2022.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the crash to come forward. Witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage should contact the serious collision investigation unit.

The incident, which involved a marked Ford Focus police car and a VW Scirocco, happened on the westbound A20 London Road at the junction with Button Street, Farningham, at around 7.45pm.
