Manipur CM announces Rs 350 crore aid for women affected by unrest

He also stated that such a provision would benefit 3.5 lakh women in the state.
The above announcement was made by the Prime Minister while attending the International Women’s Day 2026 organized under the theme “Rights, Justice, Action for All Women and Girls” at the Imphal City Convention Center today.
The Prime Minister prayed to God Almighty that the people displaced due to the unprecedented crisis in Manipur can finally return to their homes from today.
Singh stated that at different stages of Manipur’s history, Manipuri women played important roles in Manipur’s economy and political affairs of Manipur. Even by selling vegetables and doing hand-weaving, a widow can feed and take care of her child, making him a successful person. “We are their sons and daughters,” he said.
MLA Naoriya Pakhanglakpa assembly constituency Sagolshem Kebi Devi stated that she attends the celebrations every year because she is a woman. Every woman should know well the government programs as well as the rights of women in the Constitution to protect themselves from discrimination and injustice in society. In this context, he emphasized that more women should actively participate in such programs.
During the celebration, the Prime Minister congratulated Km. Nameirakpam Kunjarani Devi, weightlifter and Padmashree Award Winner and Km. Mangka Mayanglambam is a famous Manipuri folk singer. The celebration organized by the Social Welfare Department, Government of Manipur, was attended by Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam, Tourism Minister Khuraijam Loken Singh, MLAs, Administrative Secretaries and Social Welfare department officials and others.
