With the ongoing conflict in West Asia and the rise in liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices, autorickshaw drivers in the city are worried whether they will get uninterrupted gas supply.
K. Vijay, who operates an LPG-powered autorickshaw, said that if LPG is not available, their driving will be affected. “We only have a three-litre petrol tank, which can only be used in emergencies, for example if the vehicle runs out of petrol. Otherwise, petrol gives us a mileage of around 22 km/kg, which is cheaper than petrol, meaning 10-12 km per liter,” he said.
