Drugs smuggled into prisons ‘destabilising’ them, watchdog says

A guard, numerous drugs kidnapped to prisons in England and Wales, “destabilizes the system” and prevents them from stopping the accusation again.
According to the annual report of the prisons, prisons are targeted by crime gangs using drones to fly on a leak to sell to prisoners trapped by criminal gangs.
“This was in many prisons, in many prisons, there were apparently uncontrolled levels of guilt, which was often difficult and inexperienced.”
Prisons Minister Lord Timpson said the report showed the “scale of the crisis we inherited” and that the government is working to finish “chaos”.
The damn report, published on Tuesday, found that extreme crowds and personnel shortage contributed to the lack of purposes that would help the prisoners’ rehabilitation and many of them to engage in drugs.
Both staff and prisoners say very little to keep drugs away from prisons for several years.
5,431 prisoners said that 39% of them were easy to take drugs, and 30% of random drug tests were positive.
In a prison, HMP Hindley, this ratio was almost twice.
HMP Bedford’s examination, although the drugs are “an important threat to security”, although there was no random drug test for 12 months.
Drugs are kidnapped by visitors or staff to prisons, thrown into fences or drones are blown in use.
A prisoner for a violent crime told the BBC that it was “super easy” to use drugs inside.
Talking on an illegal phone from his cell, “If you want spices [synthetic cannabis] Or you can get her to a Jiffy, or something stronger. Everyone inside knows who’s existing. You can smell it in front of the wings.
“The boredom is too much, and sometimes you just want something to take your mind from it, so you’ll rise.”
The report said that drones were used to make regular deliveries to HMP Manchester and Long Lartin – this holds some of the most dangerous men in the country, including terrorists and organized crime bosses.
He said that physical security measures were insufficient, HMP Manchester “inexperienced personnel were manipulated or ignored by prisoners”.
Mr. Taylor said that his inability to overcome these problems offers a threat to national security.
“The difficulty of the prison service should be to work with police and security services to manage organized crime -related prisoners.” He said.
“This is a threat to be taken seriously at the highest level levels of the government.”
Found in the report:
- The prisoners spent on the cells for a very long time with limited opportunities to spend time in fresh air or to participate in entertainment activities.
- Prisoners in full -time work or education missed other activities
- Prisoners published early to facilitate excessive crowded “Already-oversetched” had put a big burden on controlled freedom units
- Population “is growing faster again [prison] Venues can be made available “
Lord Timpson, the report “unacceptable pressures faced by our hardworking staff,” he said.
The government, which deals with the extreme crowd, said that 2,400 has already built 14,000 extra places where it was already delivered and was punished to “never leave a space again”.
The authority added that the government has promised £ 40 million to increase prison security, including advanced CCTV, new windows and projectors.
Prison service also uses x -ray trunk browsers and detection dogs to combat smuggling.
Government hopes Prisoner reforms He will allow more prisoners to be released early and will release prison areas.
However, drugs in prison are not something new, and as long as there is a demand, it is likely to create new ways to bring them.
It is something that will continue to be an irreversible attraction against drug dealers and addicts while making time and making cash.
