DSA co-chair embraces abolishing Senate, ICE, borders as Democratic infighting escalates
A senior Democratic socialist leader on Sunday embraced repealing that law Senatenational borders, prisons, and more reveal the movement’s overarching agenda as ideological divisions. Democratic Party We continue to deepen.
Speaking to Fox News Shannon BreamDemocratic Socialists of America (DSA) national co-chair Megan Romer gave a series of “yes” and “true” answers when asked whether the organization’s platform calls for the dismantling of major American institutions.

Romer also confirmed the organization’s support. Changing the Presidency and the Supreme CourtAbolishing ICE, eventually eliminating national borders while granting amnesty to people living in the country illegally, defunding the Pentagon, phasing out prisons, and shifting most major corporations into public ownership.
He said some of the proposals, including abolishing borders and prisons, were part of the organization’s long-term vision.

Explaining his effort to eliminate the Senate, Romer called the chamber an “anachronistic institution” designed to limit the influence of ordinary Americans.
“It comes from the British House of Lords,” he said.
“The Senate was part of the system that was created to ensure that the people didn’t have too much say. That’s why we want to expand Congress Significantly, but make it a unicameral legislature,” Romer said.
Romer also defended DSA’s decision to field candidates. Democratic voting line despite criticism from party leaders who argued that the organization should establish its own political party.
“The two parties, over years and decades, have created a system in which access to the ballot box is extremely difficult for third parties,” Romer said. he said.

“We run on the Democratic ticket where it makes sense. independents sometimes that’s a valid possibility, but it’s a ballot measure. “What matters is what voters think, and voters overwhelmingly choose our candidates,” he said.
Comments are increasing prominent Democrats Warn that the party risks alienating voters by embracing positions advocated by the Democratic Socialists of America.
