Former linebacker on Chiefs’ Super Bowl LIV team charged with girlfriend’s murder

Former Chiefs linebacker Darron Lee is accused of killing his girlfriend, according to Tennessee authorities.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office said deputies arrived at a residence in Ooltewah, Tennessee, on Thursday and found a female victim. Identified after CPR attempt he was dead.

“Due to the condition of the victim and his residence, HCSO Criminal Investigative Services Detectives responded. Preliminary findings indicate that the victim’s death was the result of a homicide,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
“The victim’s boyfriend, Darron Lee, was identified as the suspect and taken into custody at the scene.”
Lee, who played for the Chiefs in 2019, was charged with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence. Lee appeared in 16 games that season but did not appear in the playoffs as the Chiefs won Super Bowl LIV.
According to WRCB-TV in Chattanooga, “Lee told (first responders): found him unconscious The arrest report says he was lying on the couch and thought he may have fallen in the shower, but his statements did not match “relevant circumstances” at the home.

“Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office deputies say they found blood stains on the walls and floors in multiple locations, as well as shards of glass scattered throughout the kitchen area. They also say they observed cleaning supplies in ‘abnormal locations.'”
A medical examiner found the victim to have a stab wound to his abdomen, a bruise to his head and other injuries, WRCB reported.
New York Post, Lee’s being held without bail and has a court date set for Wednesday.
