Eccles fire: Firefighters cordon off quiet residential street as blaze erupts | UK | News

A fire broke out on a quiet residential street in Eccles on Monday. Firefighters rushed to Chadwick Road at around 7pm on March 30 following reports of the fire.
After a large number of teams reached the area, the residential street at the Mather Boulevard intersection was cordoned off. Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said the fire broke out in an “abandoned building”.
Fire crews waited more than an hour to extinguish the flames.
While it has not yet been determined what caused the fire, an investigation has been launched into the source of the fire. MEN reports.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Shortly after 7pm on Monday, March 30, three fire engines were called from Stretford, Agecroft and Eccles fire stations to respond to a derelict building fire on Chadwick Road, Eccles.
“Crews arrived quickly and used a hose reel, two breathing apparatus and other specialized equipment to extinguish the fire.
“Firefighters remained at the scene for approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes and then secured the area before departing.”
