The Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) conducted joint raids at Padgha in Thane district on Thursday, December 11, 2025, in connection with suspected terror financing, officials said.

The raids have been going on since the early hours of Thursday in Padgha in Bhiwandi district, an official said.

He said the action was based on some earlier operations carried out by ATS in Padgha’s Borivali village.

The official said that the homes of many suspects were searched and the emergency service was conducting investigations into suspicious money transactions, adding that the ATS was assisting federal agency sleuths.

In June this year, the ATS, along with Thane rural police, conducted a massive search at the house of Borivali in Padgha of 22 persons, including former office bearer of Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) Saquib Nachan and other suspected members and sympathizers of the banned organisation.

The ATS seized 19 mobile phones and incriminating material and documents related to radicalisation, the official said.

Two years ago, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had also conducted raids in Padgha in connection with some terrorism-related activities.

Saquib Nachan, who was arrested by the NIA in Padgha, died in a hospital in Delhi in June this year.
