The Simpsons kills off longtime character for good after 34 YEARS following string of shock deaths

The Simpsons has announced its latest long-time character to stir things up.
The long-running series said goodbye to a character who made her debut in the show’s second season in 1991 in the Nov. 16 episode titled Sashes To Sashes.
First Church Organist Alice Glick jumped on the organ, interrupting Reverend Lovejoy and shocking the congregation in the middle of a church service attended by the Simpson family of the same name.
His death marked the end of the character’s 34-year, 35-season career.
The move comes as the series has been criticized by fans, sometimes killing off beloved but minor characters and continuing to drag on interminably as the lead characters’ voices age noticeably.
The Simpsons’ executive producer Tim Long confirmed this People After Alice’s death scene in the seventh episode of the 37th season, he said that he would not appear in the series again.

‘In a way, Alice the organist will live on forever because of the beautiful music she makes,’ he said. ‘But in another, more important sense, yes, he died like a doornail.’
It was particularly notable that the character appeared to have been killed off years before it was revealed that he was still alive in the Simpsons universe.
In the season 23 episode titled Replaceable You, Alice was attacked by a robotic pet, causing viewers to assume she was killed.
Confusingly, Alice returned in later episodes both as her usual self and as a ghost.
However, due to its later live appearances, Simpson fan forums labeled the episode as substandard.
Alice actually had a lot of star power behind her, as she was voiced in her debut by legendary actress Cloris Leachman, who died in 2021 at the age of 94.
However, Simpsons mainstay Tress MacNeille, 74, went on to voice the role in all subsequent shows of Alice over the decades.
In the character’s debut, season two’s Three Men and a Comic Book, Bart Simpson performed various jobs for Alice in exchange for payments to help her purchase a $100 comic book.

Fans on X (formerly Twitter) had mixed reactions to Ms. Glick’s death. While some paid tribute to the late character, others called for The Simpsons to finally come to an end after decades in which most fans believed the series was living in the shadow of its early seasons.
Several minor characters have been killed off in recent years, and Marge was killed off in June, fast forward years in the future. In 2023, Sideshow Bob was killed by Lisa, but in a non-canon Treehouse Of Horror Halloween episode (pictured)
But since Mrs. Glick only pays 50 cents a job, Bart is forced to pool his money with Milhouse and Martin, and the three go crazy with greed as they fight over the comic.

While some paid tribute to the late character, others took the opportunity to call for The Simpsons to finally come to an end after decades where most fans believed the series was living in the shadow of its early seasons.
‘RIP Alice Glick’ one poster wrote, while another joked: ‘Alice Glick is dead… Again.’
‘My god. ‘Someone updated The Simpsons wikis about Alice Glick,’ added another poster.
One user mocked other users who cared about the character’s death by reminding them that it was just a ‘cartoon’.
‘This is so funny to me, haha. Everything is a caricature. “These characters can and will return whenever the director wishes,” they wrote.
‘Who watches The Simpsons anymore?’ another person complained. ‘Half of the best voice actors have died or left the series, which is a sadly unfunny shell of its former self.’
One fan advised others: ’13. ‘None of that matters when you stop in season.’
Simpson previously caused controversy when he killed off one of the series’ leads, Marge Simpson, in June, but that was just a flash-forward that would happen years later.
Prior to this, a number of minor characters had been killed off, including Larry the Barfly.
In 2023, Bart’s long-time nemesis Sideshow Bob (voiced by Frasier star Kelsey Grammer) was killed off, but this was in another non-canonical flash-forward in that year’s Treehouse Of Horror Halloween episode.
