Ed Davey to boycott King’s banquet for Trump over ‘horrifying’ Gaza war

Sir Ed Davey will boycott Donald Trump’s state feast next month with charges that the US president did not use his power to end the “horrific” war in Gaza.
Liberal Democratic leader, US President and Sir Keir Starmer, rather than act on the increasing humanitarian crisis on the lane of the view of the gaze, he suggested that they only hoped to çek close his eyes and remove it ”.
In an announcement that allows Tories to accuse him of “deep disrespecting ına to the King, Sir Ed confirmed that on Wednesday, Mr. Trump would reject an invitation to the dinner that would take place during the state visit in mid -September.
Sir Ed said that he and his wife, Emily, “Pray” before deciding that it was the “the only way” to send a message to both Mr. Trump and Sir Keir.
He said: “There is no honor like an invitation from the king, and not accepting his invitation opposes all our instincts.
“But I am afraid that Donald Trump has come to our country, he was honored with a generous dinner in one of our best palaces, but no one reminds him that he has the power to stop terrible hunger and death in Gaza and release hostages.
“If Donald Trump tells Benjamin Netanyahu to stop it, it ends tomorrow.
Mr. Trump called on the conflict and “real hunger ında in the region, while offering mixed signals about Israel’s war in Gaza, rejecting the calls to recognize the Palestinian state, and redeveloping the Palestinians from the Gaza Strip and redeveloping the Riviera of the Middle East”.
Meanwhile, the conflict continues, confirmed last week that Gaza City was accused of killing five journalists and 15 people on a strike on Monday to a hospital in Gaza and that she suffered from Israel.
Sir Ed added: “Donald is the only way to send a message to Donald Trump and Keir Starmer because they cannot close their eyes and do not wish.
“We have to talk. They should take action. Donald Trump must take action to end this human crisis.”
Trump’s state visit, which is scheduled to take place between 17-19 September, made the second and one of the few world leaders to be invited to visit two states.
Honor was usually reserved for the rulers, together with the Queen of Denmark Margrethe II, the last person who made a second state visit in 2000, made two state visits at the beginning of the 20th century.
The details of Mr. Trump’s visit will still be announced, but it will not include an address for the parliament because the lords and commons are not in the country.
In July, his visit to Scotland was watching a lower -key trip, while he hosted Sir Keir at the Turnberry Golf field.
In response to Sir Ed’s statement on Wednesday, Shadow Foreign Minister Dame Priti Patel said: ”[This] Majesty is a deep act of disrespect to the King.
“It shows a terrible judgment. America is our closest ally and our security partner and the world’s largest economy.
“Ed Davey has once again proved that he was not a serious leader and he was more interested in his pathetic gesture policies.”
