Eddie Hearn ‘expects’ Anthony Joshua to fight again after crash

Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn “expects” British heavyweight Anthony Joshua to fight again following the deaths of two close friends but admits there is “no guarantee” of that.

The 36-year-old suffered minor injuries in the car accident that killed Sina Ghami and Latif ‘Latz’ Ayodele in Nigeria on December 29.

The two-time world champion returned to training in January and posted a video of himself training on social media with the message “mental strength therapy.”

Hearn, who has promoted Joshua since he turned professional after winning gold at the 2012 Olympics, believes he will step back this year.

“I don’t think there’s a guarantee he’ll fight again, but I also expect him to fight because it’s something he loves,” Hearn said in an interview with First Round TV. he said.

“And it’s something he can take those guys with him and it’s something he wants to do.

“From a boxing perspective, it wasn’t easy physically for him either. People probably don’t realize the extent of it.

“He’s been training but he’s not ready yet and won’t be back to boxing training for a while.”
