Eighties musician Paul Hardcastle reveals his son has tragically died in a motorcycle accident aged 35

1980s musician Paul Hardcastle has announced that his son Paul Jr. has died at the age of 35 following a fatal motorcycle accident.

Paul, 68, shared the tragic news on Monday night in a heartbreaking Instagram post alongside a childhood photo of his son.

The singer, composer and producer wrote: ‘I want you to know that my super talented son, Paul Hardcastle Jr., was previously involved in a fatal motorcycle accident and sadly died. RIP my son loves my father.’

Paul Jnr was also a musician and was known for playing the saxophone and DJing.

He starred in his father’s 2008 film Hardcastle 5, which was released in 2008 and is featured in the final track Take 1.

Speaking to Steve Denyer on My 80s Playlist in May 2024, Denyer said he initially wanted to be a motorcycle racer before he was hospitalized for nearly four months after a bad crash.

He said: ‘I came out with compound fractures to my femur, tibia and fibula. Half of it was my fault because I was going too fast, but someone also pulled over.

‘I was in it [hospital] I had nothing to do for four months. I was just listening to the radio.

‘I made music with my father, I traveled around Berlin when I was about eight years old. We lived wherever and whenever he performed.

‘I was kind of a novelty because I could play the drums, I could sing a little bit and I could play the guitar a little bit.’

Before branching out on his own, he joined a band and released 1984’s Rain Forest, which peaked at number two on the dance chart.
