The Indian Election Commission (ECI) re -confirmed the reliability of electronic voting machines (EVMs) by declaring a comprehensive control and verification (C & V) in Maharashtra. The process was initiated after the applications of 10 candidates who objected to the elections of the 2024 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. According to the ECI press note published on Thursday, Maharashtra Chief Election Officer performed the C&V procedure in 10 parliamentary elections.

48 votes (bus), 31 control units (CUS) and 31 voters were verified paper control trail (VVPATS). Verification confirmed that all machines were appropriate and there was no incompatibility between EVM results and VVPAT shifts. “This exercise proves that EVMs are resistant to tampering again,” the questionnaire panel proves. The tests were held in the presence of eight of 10 candidates, including eight applicants who lost nominations, and applied for other candidates or representatives for C & V.

Diagnostic tests were performed in voters, including 147-Copri-Pachpakhadi, 148-Than, 211-Khadakwsala and 229-Majalgaon to verify the burnt memory and microcontrollerist. Authorized engineers from ECIL, the manufacturer of machines, confirmed that all devices have successfully passed the tests. 188 Panel, 192 Panel (Raigad Region), 80-Arni (Yavatmal Region), 119-Yevla (Nashik Region), 271-Chandgad and 276-Colhapur North (Both in Kolhapur Region), fake surveys after diagnosis tests were observed.

The results obtained from the control units once again matched the vvpat slip counts that confirm the reliability of the system. “After the diagnostic test, authorized engineers (ECIL) after the diagnostic test confirmed that all machines have passed diagnostic tests.” He said. “Later, according to the demand received from the candidates, a false survey was conducted on the machines. The results of EVM (from the control unit) were confirmed with the vvppp shifts count and there was no dispute,” he added.
