Elementary school hit in Laval

The 18-year-old driver who crashed into an elementary school in Laval after a hit-and-run was released Thursday pending his appearance, while further searches and analyzes could allow charges to be filed against him.

His identity, confirmed by the police, was not disclosed, since it will be up to the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions (DPCP) to decide on the continuation of the procedures, the Laval Police Service (SPL) indicates.

Thursday morning, around 3:25 a.m., the young man suffered serious injuries after fleeing the police on Thursday morning and crashing into the Charles-Perrault primary school building, located on Boulevard de la Concorde Est in Laval. He was transported to a hospital where his life was initially feared, then considered out of danger a few hours later. Closed all day, the primary school was reopened Friday morning.
